You might benefit from therapy for relationship stress if...

  • You go above and beyond to meet the needs of your partner, but feel like they're doing the bare minimum.
  • Repeated disagreements with your partner don’t seem to lead to resolution.
  • You feel like you're walking on eggshells around your partner, for fear of doing or saying something that'll upset them.
  • Physical or emotional intimacy has decreased, leading to feelings of loneliness or isolation.
  • An accumulation of unresolved issues and relationship stress have grown into resentment toward your partner.

In therapy, you will:

  1. Learn ways to express your needs, set healthy boundaries, and repair conflicts without escalating tension.
  2. Rebuild intimacy, trust, and understanding for a more fulfilling relationship.
  3. Gain tools to manage relationship stress, regulate emotions, and handle relationship challenges more effectively.
  4. Recognize unhealthy behaviors and learn positive ones that support relationship growth.
  5. Work through past hurts, misunderstandings, or unresolved issues with guidance and support.

Therapy modalities I'll use to support you.

DBT teaches skills to manage intense emotions, improve communication, and handle conflicts more effectively. It focuses on giving you tools on how to stay calm during difficult conversations, set healthy boundaries, and better understand your feelings as well as the feelings of others. DBT also helps you learn how to balance acceptance and change, so you can be more mindful and present in your relationships while making positive changes.

IPT focuses on improving communication and resolving conflicts in your relationships. Whether with a partner, family, or friends, IPT look at how these connections might be causing stress or emotional pain. Through IPT, you learn to understand and improve patterns in your interactions, express your needs more clearly, and cope with relationship challenges like grief, role changes, or interpersonal conflicts.

Psychodynamic therapy explores how past experiences, especially early relationships, shape the way you interact with others. It looks at unconscious patterns, such as repeating the same unhealthy behaviors or reacting in ways that don't seem to make sense. By understanding these patterns and the feelings behind them, you can develop healthier ways of connecting with others.

Cultivate more balanced and meaningful relationships.
