Your past keeps showing up in your present in the form of painful memories and triggers. Past traumatic experiences may have left deep wounds, but they don’t have to define your future. You want to move forward, and aren't sure how.
EMDR uses eye movements or other bilateral stimulation to help your brain process and make sense of distressing memories. When you experience trauma, those memories can get "stuck" and continue to cause emotional pain. EMDR helps to "unstick" these memories, allowing your brain to process them in a way that reduces their emotional charge. Over time, this can help you feel less affected by past trauma and more in control of your emotions.
IFS understands that we all have different parts of ourselves, like angry, vulnerable, or hurt parts. When we experience trauma, these parts can get trapped in painful patterns or try to protect us in ways that aren't helpful anymore. In IFS, you work with these parts to understand them better, heal old wounds, and help them feel safe. The goal is to bring out your true, calm, and compassionate self, allowing you to heal and move forward in a healthier way.
Psychodynamic therapy helps with trauma processing by exploring how past experiences continue to affect how you think, feel, and act today. It focuses on understanding emotions or patterns you might not be fully aware of. By exploring your past and recognizing how it shapes your present, you gain insight into your reactions and can foster a resilience and autonomy.
